Masuf Ahmed

Date

August 2024

Location

New York

“Annihilation” Transformation, alien photography.

"My work connects to the theme of 'Immediate Art' by addressing urgent emotional and environmental issues that demand instant attention. Drawing from my upbringing in Bangladesh, I use folklore, monstrous figures, and surreal environments to provoke immediate reactions and reflections on fear, transformation, and our fragile relationship with nature. The intensity of these themes aligns with 'Immediate Art's' goal of evoking a quick, powerful response, urging viewers to confront and act on these pressing concerns." (Ahmed, 2024)

Masuf draws inspiration from his community and childhood experiences in Bangladesh, where stories of djinns and monsters deeply influenced his perspective. He also finds inspiration in virtual photography, which he continues to use as a tool for experimentation and planning. This blend of cultural heritage and modern technology shapes the unique style and themes in his work.
