"My performance showed the attachment to people’s phones and the reluctance they had at giving it away. The apartment was a no shoes home and people easily obeyed this rule. But when it came down to taking away a bigger distraction they became hesitant. Some gladly gave me their phone. I want people to disconnect from their tech and be present with one another, as phones can take you out of the present and into another world. With the idea of art becoming less tactile and being looked at for less time, I took away the one thing that could truly take them out of their current experience. By taking numerous selfies I was communicating the obnoxious nature of the phone, how i can use it and abuse it." (Walker, 2024)

For this specific performance, when Harley found out about the theme for the show, it just clicked for her. She said, "if you want people to be more present and really be immersed, lets take away the one thing that distracts us all".
